Tufted Duck Wedding / Sharon + William
It's so cool when the bride + groom have kids. Just adds a whole new dimension to the occasion. For the media team is gives us an extra focal point, one of equal importance to the happy couple. And personally I shared a lot in common with Sharon + William - our kids are similar ages > in the same order (boy first, then girl) > we're at a similar time/point in our lives.
My introduction to Sharon's mum set the tone for our morning giggles. She walked in, just in her dressing gown as I was next to the door, we both blushed and laughed. Where do we go from there?
So awkward introductions out of the way the morning was nice and relaxed. Weather was in fine form. Good banter with the photographers Jules + Jonathan. But then things started getting emotional. Sharon, by now dressed in her wedding gown, had an intimate moment with her mum and dad. And the tears came. Moments such as this are rare and precious, and touched everyone in the room.
That emotional vibe carried along to the walking down the aisle, and it was time...
After a brief, but beautiful ceremony conducted by local registrar, Kathryn Ferris, our happy couple were greeted by their guests in a spontaneous receiving line. There were more emotions on show, both laughter and tears.
Due to the fine weather the photography shoot took place outside in the grounds of the hotel - both front and back. Meanwhile the guests mingled indoors, sharing drinks and stories. And before we had a chance to catch our breaths it was time to welcome the bride + groom into the reception room for their speeches and meal.
One part of the day the bride + groom were most looking forward to was the evening. Their wedding band drove all the way up from Manchester to perform. It was so cool to hear a band with a brass section, and one of the best bass players I've seen! I so wanted to stay and join in, but alas I was knackered and needed a cup of tea + bed.
Such a fab day, my best wishes to you all!
RIP to Martin Low (Baz) from Aberdeen Photobooth who sadly passed away last week. One of those few people that everyone knew, everyone liked, and everyone had time for. I know you will be sorely missed, bud. Sending my thoughts to your family, Sam, and especially your wee daughter, Zara Rose x
